A phone conversation I had this morning with my mum:

Me: Hello?
Mum: Baby! Guess where we are! Cesena :D
Me: Oh, hey mum :)
Mum: No no, listen! Dad and I went to see the market and then we went to get a cappuccino!
Me: *is suspicious of the emphasis* Uh, that's good. Did you like the-
Mum: no no, you don't understand! We went to get cappuccinos! And then we didn't drink them! Ah ah ah :D
Me: .... what?
Mum: We walked up to the counter, ordered two cappuccinos, took forever to pick pastries and then we told them we wanted them at the table outside and then we left!
Me: You mean you did an eat-and-run? MUM!
Mum: No! We just didn't stick around long enough for the guy to bring the stuff at the table!
Me: *laughing* wow, you are getting old if you just forget about the order you just placed!
Mum: yeah, whatever! *chortles* hear this! We have just decided that we are going to go back there later this afternoon and sit at the table and then scold the waiters because "we've been waiting for these fucking cappucinos all day!" :D

Today was supposed to be awesome and amazing and all things shiny because I was asked to paint on a wall (I love drawing on big surfaces) but my excitement for this task was ruined in the span of 15 minutes thanks to hate rant delivered by my bff's mum after she asked me what was that I posted on my facebook status and I explained about today being NCOD. I'm not going to repeat what she said because just thinking about it makes the bile rise again in my throat and it was hard to swallow it down the first time around. Point is, she managed to turn me into a sad and angry little thing; when I am a sad-and-angry-little-thing I tend to think the world is doomed and people are horrible and I forget that not everybody is so hateful and offensive and rude. Luckily, mum and L let me get it out of my system and then we all flailed angrily together about people's blindness and their close-mindedness. This FCKH8 video (NSFW! We are leaving tomorrow morning for 5 (maybe more, maybe less) days of camping at the beach :) Hopefully, I'll manage to get my skin to look darker than the mozzarella-hue it's sporting now...
I should be able to check my email and twitter, so I'll somewhat be around anyway, but if something exciting happens (like, release dates are announced, people accidentally confess their undying love for their bandmate/collegue/whathaveyou, your morning tea is especially delicious) do send me a quick message! I can run into the water and flail there and nobody would think it weird :D

This is where I apologise for being a not good, very bad flister. I'm kinda swamped by exams and extra, intensive courses and things that don't require using a computer (so I don't even switch it on) and I'll be MIA for pretty much most of February (my last exams is on the 26th). I'll try to keep up with the Doodle Jar, but some doodles may be posted a day late. If I haven't commented/won't comment on your entries, it's because I have no time to browse my friend page, but know that I love you all and I miss you and you are all amazing ♥

1. I am obsessed with bees and I've been since I was a little kid. I love their shape, and the sound they make and their colours. If something has bees on it, I want it. Wasps, though, scare me more than biscuit dolls.

2. I used to be an altar girl and sing in the local church choir. I am agnostic.

3. I drink coffee from 4 different coffee mugs during the day, in a precise order: a large, chipped, bright yellow one at breakfast; a tiny, fat lipped, white one at 10:30; one with coffee beans printed on the outside after lunch; a narrow, pale yellow mug in the afternoon.

4. I am allergic to mint. We found out when I was 5 and mum massaged Vicks VapoRub on my chest to get rid of a strong cough.

5. The first concert I went to see was a Backstreet Boys one when I was 11, but the band I really wanted to see was Hanson.

6. I love letters and I keep every one I receive (I still have the ones my "boyfriend" from kindergarden gave me and they crack me up everytime I read them). My favourite one, though, is the letter my grandpa Polo wrote me for my 17th birthday (just 9 months before he died) and I've never let anyone read it because it's the one thing about him I don't want to share with anyone else.

7. I went to art school and I've never tried weed.

In other news, I feel like I should print some flyers with the basic steps to ensure nobody dies of asfixiation when attending lectures at uni. Really, is it that difficult to take a shower in the morning? Or wear clothes that don't smell of last week's stale sweat? Or use deodorant? And no, spraying your mom's primrose eau de toilette all over yourself to cover the odour of your hate for everything soap-related is not acceptable >:(

I'm kinda scared by TYV's upcoming album. I like Change better than this new one... and Change's not my cup of tea. I feel like a bad fan :/

I think I've reached my personal lameness record this past weekend. Most 20-somethings would go party, but not me. No. My weekend was spent reorganizing my wardrobe, watching silly cartoons (Kung Fu Panda, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Happy Feet) and crocheting. At least I now have a new hat?

Today, both mum and I were going home at the same time, so I called her and asked if I could hitch a ride on her scooter. She said "Sure baby, but do you have a helmet?" and no, I didn't have one with me, was there a spare helmet over at the shop? Her answer was "Mmmm... I'm sure we can come up with something". The "something" turned out to be an upturned salad bowl covered with a black plastic bag to make it look less like an upturned salad bowl. I wish I had pictures to show you because it was truly hilarious :D &mum'sideas;

1) What's your biggest pet peeves?
Ignorant people who try to cover their ignorance using big words. That's something I really can't stand.

2) How do you like to spend your weekend if you're home alone?
I either spend it alone, drawing and painting with the music loud enough to cover the phone ringing, or invite my friends over for a two-days movie-marathon.

3) Who's your first celebrity crush? :D
Oh my god... Taylor Hanson. Don't look at me like that! I was 12, ok?

4) What do you plan to do 10 years from now?
I'm planning on being somewhere that is not here. I'd really like to move abroad. Italy started to feel too small when I was still in high school, and I've reached the point where I need to get out of here for small periods of time to be able to "breathe". That's why I travel often and so randomly. So yeah... ten years from now I plan to be on the road.

5) How do you define a friendship?
Tough question. I'm a friendly person, I always was, even if I'm pretty shy, but the people I consider friends are not many. That's probably my fault because what I look for in a friend is their ability to make a connection with me that will bring benefits (I use this word in a figurative way) to both parts. A friend is someone that is both teacher and student, someone that makes your life happier, fuller, richer. It's someone that can make you smile or even laugh when you're alone and cry with no shame when you're not because a friend allows you to be you every moment.
That's not to say that when you become friends with someone you'll be able to be that kind of person for each other right away. For example, I have known my best friend since we were 3 (we attended the same schools until we started high school) and I can say now that she is one of the people in my life that I'd miss even if I hadn't ever met her. We grew up together, we went through some shit together, we didn't spoke for a month and then we forgot why we started the silent treatment, we stayed up till 2 in the morning when we were 10 to play SuperMarioBros and then fell asleep during service in church the next morning (well, she did. I couldn't since I was an altar girl...), we cried/laughed/sang/danced/dressed up/skipped school/mooned over boys together, we did stupid things and we fought to the point of slapping each other. We said things to each other with the specific intent of hurting the other, because if you feel like shit, then she should too (teen angst was a riot). We said things to each other that hurt us to voice aloud but needed to be said anyway, because we are friends and that means that you have the responsibility to be blunt even if the last thing we wanted to do was to cause pain to the other. It wasn't always easy, but we learned and taught at the same time and it's something I'll be forever grateful to her (and to the other people who were and are friends) for, because without her (and them), I wouldn't know now how much a friend can mean, and I couldn't be me every moment.


Uh... sorry for that, I didn't mean to ramble that much. I won't be offended if you skipped it.

No, really.
I actually spent one hour and a half reading a thesaurus.
I went to the bookshop yesterday because I needed an Italian-Spanish dictionary and an English Thesaurus. I just wanted a pocket one... but then I saw it: Roget's Thesaurus. Burnt orange hard-cover, terracotta-coloured spine, 1232 pages full of English words. It sat there on the shelf near a similar book of quotes (which will be mine in the very near future).
I pratically pounced.
And then I sat on the floor, for an hour and a half, reading it until the clerk asked me if I could move to one of the chairs because I was blocking the aisle.
Seems my book-addiction is degenerating. As is my obsession with English.
