Appropriate icon is appropriate :)

Sooo... I'VE FINISHED MY ART PIECE FOR BBB! *twirls while throwing glittering confetti*
In order to celebrate this most joyous event, I finished the drawing I started a while ago for [info]milenaa.
She prompted me with "Spencer's five favorite things he did/saw in Africa". I don't know how, but I developed a case of utter sap when I drew this...

Hope you like it Milly :D

Polaroids

On another note, due to personal reasons my dw account will be semi-friends only for a bit, while the LJ will remain open to everyone. Hopefully, I'll sort out everything in the near future and I'll be able to change the dw status back to "public" :)

These are really awesome. Um...because I don't really follow them in SA, any chance you can explain the significance of them? I can guess 4.13.09 \o/ but as for the others, I'm clueless... :S

I'm already squeeing and I don't understand. =D

I'm already squeeing and I don't understand. =D Ahahah! I think that's the general reaction to anything that is Brendon/Spencer related :D

Anyway, explanations!
Since the boys didn't gave us lots of info on their trip to SA, I had to try and make up something plausible for Spencer to have seen/done when he was down there.
I decided right away that this was going to be a Spencer/Brendon piece. There is a full story behind this drawing, and since I'm crap at writing, I used pencils to tell it (maybe some day I'll knock my head really hard and decide to actually write it, but today is not that day). I don't know why, but I thought that as far as proposing go, South Africa was the best setting ever... So, this is the story of how Spencer asked Brendon to marry him.
Let's start with the easy ones: the one with the elephants is a reference to the safari they did on Brendon's birthday while the one in bottom left corner is supposed to be a snapshot at a local market (inspired by Ryan twittering about his new folkiristic instrument... that he showed us here (http://phodroid.com/09/04/wfxr72) and here (http://twitpic.com/527n6)).
The one at the top with those wonky looking white columns is a shot from the outside (http://www.faceinteract.com/vnctplsn/blog/images/apartheid-museum.jpg) of the Apartheid Museum. I did a bit of researching when I started this piece and most of the links I found had to do with Apartheid. I thought that, even if Spencer is as much of a goofball as Brendon, he'd be the kind of guy who'd want to do some serious sightseeing, so I decided to make him go to that museum and... well, the point is that I thought that seeing what people can do when they want something really bad, Spencer would have let go of all his doubts about proposing to Brendon, so the caption on that one is a reminder of the fact that he's free to choose whoever he wants, nevermind society and sensible choices. That bring us to the empty ring box with the "Yes" caption (because Brendon said yes \o/) and the one with Brendon's hand wearing the ring the morning after.
Hopefully, my explanation wasn't too incoherent and um... sorry for the long comment... I tend to babble a lot.

Oh my gosh, thank you SO much for the explanation, now I understand! I completely welcome the long comment; I needed it =D =D

I'm now squeeing even more ♥_♥

Seriously, I needed that explanation; I thought the ring box was an Esky and now after reading your explanation, I have no idea why I thought it was an Esky when it is so clearly a ring box *facepalm*

*flails* =D =D *squees* Hehehe. THIS IS AWESOME!!!
