Some of my favourite things (volume one)

Rec time \o/

1. Mika's new album, "The Boy Who Knew Too Much". I like it even better than his first one. "Blue Eyes" is delightful, "By The Time" has a Imogen Heap feeling to me and that makes me very happy. The way he mixes sad lyrics with upbeat/cheery/sweet music... Really, click on that link up there and take a copy and, if you like it, go buy the CD when it'll come out (Wikipedia tells me on the 18th in Italy, on the 21st in the rest of the world). I know I will :)

2. This essay on drawing by spoonbard over at DeviantArt. Go read it NOW! Go read it even if you think you're not an artist :)

3. "Two Musicians in Search of a Song", posted at [livejournal.com profile] popoffacork. It is pure bliss.
And "Genetic Profile" by [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] _princess_han_ for the rec ♥). It's a Bandom/CriminalMinds crossover wherein Ryan is Reid's cousin. The way [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade managed to keep the various characters true and still mix two fandoms that have nothing to do with each other is amazing. Read it!

4. Forget Zorbing. I want to do BASE JUMPING WEARING A WINGSUIT! Who's with me? :D?

P.S. If you want a copy of Fun./Muse album, just click on the link :)

Downloading both Mika and Fun.! I'm gonna figure out a way to buy a physical copy of Aim And Ignite (it's so so great), but it's good to have the tracks to listen to on iBob before that. Thanks for uploading them, sweetie :)
(There's so many good albums I want to buy in the next few months, I'm going to be broke...)

*sigh* So much fic to read, so little time. Why must schoolwork be in the way of me getting to read awesome fic?

If I wasn't so terrified of heights I'd love to try that. We'd get to fly like birds!

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Music will be the reason I'll end up living under a bridge D:
You're welcome sweetie :) (if you want, I have also Imogen Heap and Tori Amos's latest albums ;))

I know, schoolwork is the devil! Uni doesn't start for another 3 weeks, lucky me.

Well... you can come along anyway. You can wait for me in the valley, and if I don't show up, you can call the firemen to come scrape me off the side of the mountain :)

[identity profile] wethepainted.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry I'll already be living there and can keep you and your CDs company.
Oooooh, yes please! (You're like my drug dealer, and music is my drug of choice :D)

Here the school started on the 12th of August. I have of course managed to sleep through all my classes, and am now in a terrible rush trying to study and finish the assignments by the test week, which starts next thursday D:

:DDDDD (I have a feeling I shouldn't find this quite so hilarious. I blame the tiredness) I demand you fly far from those evil & sneaky mountain walls! And wear a helmet!

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm uploading them right now :) but! I am a total lamer who get confused easily /o\ I meant Regina Spektor, not Tori Amos :( Is it ok if I give you that one instead of Tori's?

You started school in the middle of August? That's cruel!

Oh believe me, it is hilarious! Just imagine me in a wingsuit, wearing a helmet and singing "I believe I can fly" at the top of my lungs while I glide mountain-side towards my messy death.... I could even quote Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy's whale and say "Hi, mountain side" before crashing into it like a ball of (flying)jelly :D

I'm just starting to fall in love with her, so it's even better!!

I know! It was a shame to have to sit the rest of August inside from 8 to 4 when the weather outside was beautiful and warm :(

:DDDDDDDD *wipes away tears of laughter* It would truly be a gloriously dorky way to go.

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Perfect! Here you go: Far by Regina Spektor (http://www.mediafire.com/?nhhwumwnbjw) and Ellipse by Imogen Heap (http://www.mediafire.com/?ykjydjonx2t)!

I'm glad we usually start in the middle of October, at least it has already started raining and I can enjoy my cup of hot coffee while taking notes :(

It would be the best way to go :DDD

Thank you! Something to get me through the second of the three dentist appointments this month. You're a savior!

It's sad how the summer is already quite short here and then schools cut into the end of it. The past week was delightfully stormy though, so I have hope that the rainy days are going to start soon. Scarves, endless amounts of tea and umbrellas, I can't wait!

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, dentists. Mine is quite the dork himself and always listens to the rock station while working, so it's not that bad, but I hated when he tightened my braces :(

If you don't mind me asking, where is 'here'? I'm kind of happy about Summer coming to an end, since Autumn is my favourite season. I can't wait to start wearing hats and scarves and jumping on heaps of dry leaves/into puddles on the road :)

[identity profile] wethepainted.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine keep changing, but I actually quite like the current one, a middle aged woman who let's me listen to my own music and count the squares on the ceiling of her office (something I started doing when I had the best dentist I've had yet, the mustache guy, as I called him). They do keep the radio on but it doesn't cover the sounds as well as Bob does.

Oh not at all, I should really make a proper intro post with all these useful facts. I live in Oulu, in the middle part of Finland. It's a fairly small and boring city.
I can never decide which season is my favourite, but I do love the rain and the colors that come with Autumn. Not so much the darkness, but even that has it's charm. After the endless light of the summer it's nice to actually get to sleep in the dark :D

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Intro posts are the bain of my life. I never know what to say and get extremely awkward ^^
I've never been to Finland, but one of my friends from uni is originally from there and she told me that it's a beautiful place to visit :)
Autumn darkness in Rome is pretty sweet: most of the roads here are made of little, square, smooth stones and when it rains they reflect the street light in a very pretty way. And the smell is nice too... I don't know how to describe it, but I like it a lot :) (look at me, waxing poetic about Rome /o\)

[identity profile] wethepainted.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That's my problem too. I'm thinking of doing something silly the next time I update my intro post, like a comic about how I got into fandom, a link to faily!artistic photos of my city and lists, tons of lists \o/

The southern parts, as well as Lapland, are worth visiting, I think I've just been numbed to the possible beauty of this particular place.
I've been to Rome once and I really really liked the city. I didn't get to see as much of it as I wanted to, but I hope I'll get a chance to come again with better company on a better time. Now I so want to see Rome in the Autumn, it sounds wonderful! You'd be a great at making travel advertisements! I'm already sold on the idea ;)

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That's actually a very nice idea! I might steal it....

I'll have to visit and tell you about Finland from a "virgin eyes" perspective :)
Hey, I went to art school. The syllabus was pretty focused on history of art and how to showcase it in an interesting way. I'm a born tour guide ;)
If you ever come here again, I'll walk you around the historical centre and tell you ho wthe best time to see the tiny, crooked streets look their best in the morning, while the afternoon is best spent in the parks. At sunset, though, you'll want to climb the Pincian Hill and look down on the city spreading in front of you: it's when the buildings reflect the golden light beaming from St. Peter and shine burnt orange. (How am I going? Have I charmed you with my "pamphlet-voice"?)

[identity profile] wethepainted.livejournal.com 2009-09-14 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Go ahead! I'd be interested in seeing the results for sure :)

Yes, I bet you could charm me into finding some fascinating beauty here, too.
Ah, of course, I should have remembered, art school gives you surprisingly many important and usable life skillz! :D I am utterly charmed! I'm planning on traveling around Europe a bit in the summer of '12, so hopefully I'll get to see Rome in all it's glory then.

Now I'll better go to sleep before my brain switches off completely. Goodnight! :)
