Art: Surprise (PatD, Brendon/Spencer, PG)

Title: Surprise
Pairing/Rating: Brendon/Spencer, PG.
Warnings: half-nakedness of the Spencer variety (it's totally something I would want to be warned about).
Disclaimer: We all know that Brendon and Spencer's kitchen does not look like this one...
Notes: Drawn for one of my [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti winners. [livejournal.com profile] saba1789 asked me to draw her the artwork for a ficlet she wrote a while ago. That story is completely adorable and I just hope I did it justice :)

Ah ah! Yeah, it was the post with all those picture of London! (ngl, sometimes I go and look at that post again because, god, so much architectury goodness!) Anyway, yes, I studied architecture at art school. It was my favourite subject :)

I always try to do a very rough skecth that includes anything I want in the picture, and then start the srs bzns drawing. Backgrounds are admittedly the hardest part to work on. I find that drawing a very generic background and adding things in a second moment works best for me. Like, if I were to draw two people in a park, I'd make a sketch featuring two stick figures, some grass and a tree-shaped blob. Then I'd work on turning the stick figures into recognisable people; after that, I'd draw the grass and the tree. At this point, I'd add things like bushes and a monkeyframe in the distance and maybe draw a path in the grass and generally fill the space. This way you can work on the characters without worring about accidentally erasing the details around them, and at the same time, you'll be able to fill the drawing with details without cramming it.

Uh... it's just a close-up onf their faces... no nudity because I'm really uncomfortable drawing that level of intimacy /o\ (my brain is obviously a sad place). I'll have to ask my recipient if she's ok with me showing it on my lj :)
I'm sure you're doing a great job! I can't wait to see yours, too :D
