Safe and sound and other things

Hi.
As you may have heard, there's been an earthquake near here.

L'Aquila is roughly 90 Km far from Rome, so we felt it pretty well. I woke up when it happened because my bed was shaking hard. At first I thought that my sister was rolling around in bed (we have a bunk bed and I sleep on the top bed so I feel every time my sister changes position) but then I realized that there was too much noise to be just the bed banging on the wall. That's when I noticed the windowpanes were rattling in their frames and the metal cabinets outside where banging against the wall. What unsettled me the most was the fact that I couldn't hear any animal sound: usually I can hear the birds sing even at night and our dogs making sounds, but they were all silent. It was quite eerie, like hearing silence in a ruckus.
Some of my friends got really scared. One of them was staying with her grandma and their building shook really hard and her grandma almost fainted, so my friend was doubly scared.
The good thing is that a lot of people are doing all they can to help. It's nice to see people my age and even younger try to do something. It gives me hope.

Anyway, my family and friends are all well.

To change topic, some news:

- A Japanese friend of mine is returning to Japan at the end of the week, so my friends and I organized a little "goodbye party" for her and decided to have dinner all together at the by-now-infamous "cock restaurant", but this time we booked a table in the vanilla room (meaning that it was decorated with grape branches. It was quite nice). We got her a boxset of Vintage Italian Music... the strange thing is that we knew all the songs on the cd. There were songs that came out when my mum was 5! And we knew the words! Next time someone says that the youth of today doesn't know "old" music I'm going to club them on the head >:(

- Saturday afternoon I'm going to tattoo another person (and possibly their mum). I'm excited but I'm not freaking out \o/

- I made six Empires icons! Nothing fancy, but I liked the original pictures (that you can find here) and thought they'd look good in icon-size (and ok, I admit I have a soft spot for Ryan J and Sean. How could I not?):

1.Ryan J 1 2.Ryan J 2 3.Sean 1 4.Sean 2 5.Sean 3 6.Sean 4

- I hopped down to the post office and sent a "special parcel" *evil grin* hopefully it will arrive on time.

- My sister read my Darwin!fic and didn't throw up. I'll count it as a win?

How was your weekend?

I got a Internet flatrate for my cellphone so I can go online at least some while I'm with the parents (who don't even have a PC! o.0) so I'll make sure to hop over here on my b-day :D . Whee, special post for me!!! *is excited*
