twirling till I get dizzy
Soooo... BOB THE IPOD WORKS AGAIN!!!
This is the kind of news I needed today since this morning I woked up to a text from my best friend telling me that her grandma had passed away in the night. Rushed out of bed and run to the house were they're keeping the vigil till Saturday and then getting a call from my dad who told me that my grandma has been admitted to the hospital and put in an aseptic room (she's been fighting cancer for the last two years and the chemo didn't do anything other than depleting her immune system). It hasn't been the best of mornings.
Anyway, let's focus on happier things.
Bob is back... which means that the time has come to fill it again with shiny new music :D Only problem, I lost lots of music when William was rebuilt.... this is where you, dear flist, come to my aid :D
Here's the deal.
How about you upload or rec me 5 (not bandom) songs you love and, in exchange for your gracious offering, I give you art? You can ask for something specific or give me prompts or tell me "listen to songs I gave you and get inspired by them" or whatever. As long as you give/rec me music, you can ask for pretty much anything :D
Yesterday
milenaa wanted people to tell her about their cooking habits and I suggested her to do a proper meme, so here it is
The Recipe Meme
1. Give me an ingredient and I'll give you
a) my favourite recipe that uses that ingredient
b) an ingredient of my choosing.
2. Post your favourite recipe with the ingredient I gave you in your blog.
3. Copy/paste these instructions and spread the cooking love.
She gave me white wine. Now, I know
milenaa prefers recipe based mostly on veggie stuff, but this is a ~family recipe~ that I adore, so she shall have to bear with me and give it a try :D
Turkey breast with flour sauce
- Oil
- a spary of Rosemary
- Curry powder
- Turkey breast
- white wine
- Flour
1. Heat the oil in a pan and brown the rosemary and a sprinkle of curry powder.
2. Put the turkey breast in the pan. Once you flip them, pour a dash of white wine into the pan
3. Dust the flour over the turkey and mix it with the wine with with a wooden spoon until you get a creamy sauce.
4. Enjoy :)
As you can see, these dish is both easy and simple to make. I love it a lot, but you have to be careful with the wine: too much will make the meat hard to digest!
And now, some Art News in random order:
~ I'm almost positive I'll post art next week (the responses to the prompts Saba and Milly gave 2 weeks ago? I promise they are on their way! I'm just trying to make them less shmoopy... trying being the operative word, here. My sister looked at them and told me to give free reign to my inner sap, but I refuse to believe I'm actually filled with marshmallow)
~ I'm in a crafty mood lately. I've been eyeing
craftgrrl for the past 2 weeks and there are at least 3 projects I'd like to do... If I could, I'd put up a laboratory and give my antsy hands cart blanche.
~ I've contacted the Academy of Fine Arts to ask about admission to their courses and whatnot. Turns out that if you have graduated from Art School (as is the case with me) you just have to do an informal interview, no entrance examination needed. I feel like I'm on the brink of something that could turn my life upsidedown. I have a good feeling about it :)
~ I'm in love with RainInYourHeart's gallery over at DA. She is amazingly skilled. Her drawing style is beautiful and poignant and you should really go see for yourself. She is also very good at photography.

Thank you for the recipe! I really don't eat meat at all, but it sounds like it would work well with fish or shrimps so I'm gonna try that as soon as I had a chance to get to a store.

But today looks better :) I'm going to enjoy May Day at the lake with a bunch of friends.
I am stupid sometimes. That recipe is even better with fish! Mum uses cod or sole. It's delicious!

let's worship the holy ipod!
( srsly, my life would suck without music xD )

The recipe sounds really good. Can I give you an ingredient too? 'Cause I would like to know a good recipe with olives!
I can't really do this meme, since I've only started cooking a little while a go. My recipe book is pretty empty.
My iPod is called Bob too! It's a lot sturdier than my last iPod, which I didn't even have time to name before my religion textbook killed it. : D
Hmmm… I don't have anywhere to upload music to, but I can recommend the community
Some songs that I currently love: Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes(live & acoustic), Ingrid Michaelson - Creep(cover), Plushgun – Dancing in a minefield, Stars - In Our Bedroom After the War, Damien Rice - Eskimo, Fiona Apple - Parting Gift, DetektivByrån - E18, Cocoon - cliffhanger
I hope you find something you like!

BobPods FTW! The one I had before (a first generation shuffle) was called Precious. It died on me after almost 3 years. I still keep it in my drawer because I was very attached to it (it was my graduation present).
I know Freeindie.com! That site is awesome :D I'm going to check out that comm, tho.
You know DetektivByrån?!?! OMG I LOVE YOU! I thought I was the only one who listened to music box/glockenspiel/chimes kind of music! *hugs you tight* Thanks for the recs :D
And now, on to the recipe! Since I'm Italian, I'm going to give you the recipe of a typical Italian dish :D
Spaghetti alla Puttanesca
doses for 4 people:
* 400 g. spaghetti
* 250 g. tomatoes (the best ones are the San Marzano kind: they're oblung in shape and are the best kind to use for making sauce)
* 150 g. pitted black olives
* 2 garlic cloves
* 1 spray of parsley
* 1 sp capers
* 5 salted anchovies
* extra-virgin olive oil and salt
Clean and mince the garlic and dice the anchovies. Parboil the tomatoes, take out the seeds and dice the tomatoes. Wash the parsley and mince it.
Fry lightly the garlic and the anchovies in a pan. When the garlic turns golden, add the olives, the capers and the tomatoes.
Let it simmer for some minutes.
Cook the spaghetti and strain them when they are just slightly firm.
Add the sauce and sprinkle the parsley over the dish.

My first iPod was a 1Gt iPod Nano. It actually came back from the dead about 3 months after the religion book accident. It still looked dead and only played the songs organised by artist (so if you wanted to listen to like ABBA first and then The Zutons it took you about 200 clicks). I still used it for about a year after the sudden rise from the dead. My friends called it the Zombiepod :D
DetektivByrån is the awesomest!! As are capslock declarations of love!:D
I stumbled upon their myspace a few months back and fell in love. I love that kind of music but only know few artist who make it. If you know good ones feel free to rec them to me!
Also, That recipe sounds delicious! I am going try that today. :)

I don't know many artists similar to DetektivByrån either. The one that comes to my mind is Yann Tiersen (the Amelie soundtrack is lovely!)
There's also Steve Reich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Reich") (he's a minimalist music composer); I have three percussions pieces composed by him: Drumming X (http://www.mediafire.com/?1kjwwmmeqmi"), Drumming part III (http://www.mediafire.com/?yxozjzkangy) and Drumming (1971) (http://www.mediafire.com/?m2dneqyhqhy) (which is a 56 minutes long piece). They're not very DetektivByrånish, but the repetitive patterns are somewhat similar to the one used by Tiersen, even if there're no accordion or music box to speak of. I find it really relaxing too.
Also, I can't thank you enough for pointing me to
I'm glad you like the recipe :) Let me know how it comes out!

I think I have the Amelie Soundtrack somewhere! I remember listening to it and liking it a lot.
I downloaded those and they sound really interesting. I'm listening to the Drumming part III right now and enjoying the relaxing effect!
You're welcome! I remember when I first found the community and got so much awesome new music that I didn't know what to listen to first. :D
It came out great and I even posted about it over at my journal!

Can I give you an ingredient too? Your recipe sounds yummy, and I'm totally stealing the meme, so... how about bell peppers?
no subject
Oh! I love bell peppers! They are one of the few veggies I actually eat :D
Ok, this one is a typical Roman dish
Pollo alla Romana coi Peperoni (which means "Roman Chicken with Bell Peppers". We like to call things by their name ;))
*1 chicken cut in 8 pieces
*1 garlic clove
*1/2 glass white wine
*2 diced tomatoes (better if San Marzano!)
*4 bell peppers cut à la julienne
*vegetable oil
*1 tsp cooking salt
Pour some oil in a pan and fry lightly the garlic clove and the cooking salt. Add the chicken and stir.
Add the bell peppers. They should ooze some water, so you have to wait for some of it to evaporate before adding the tomatoes. When the sauce starts to thicken, pour the wine into the pan and raise the heat for a minute.
Spear the chicken with a fork. If it's well cooked, your meal is ready :)
(I hope my instructions are not too confusing :/. Translating kitchen-lingo is not easy)
