HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] toodelicious!

May it be full of cake and hugs and people who love you!

Before I forget... thank you bunches for the kisses! :D I've been away at work and then busy with uni stuff and I completely failed at being a decent flister (who is surprised? /o\) I'll try to make it up to you with a couple of random doodles
Sorry for the low quality. My dad has been using the scanner at all hours, I had to resort to camera pics :\

Um. So I was bored at work and I kept thinking about this Kushiel!AU and so this came out. One day I'll grow a pair and draw it properly... omg! Nakedness! What have I done?!

I have been messing around with cardboard again! Did I ever tell you about my love/hate relationship with Cardboard? I love it, but working on it is a pain. But I love the texture. I believe I once bored Nic to tears talking about how I love/hate working on cardboard...

If you follow me on twitter you've already seen this. Also, I'll come out and just say it: Mark is a joy to draw. If I could, I'd draw doodles of his unimpressed face and sheepdog curls all over the places.

Day #37894889292 of me being in love with steampunk failboats. Carry on.

and some recs! :D?

This WWF video is gorgeous! Everybody should watch it!

Deathly Hallow is almost here! My sister and I have been flapping our hands at each other for a week solid and we keep looking at each other and getting choked up. Our childhood ç___ç
Anyway, Tumblr is bursting with HP graphics and I stumbled upon this one and it made me remember that while I was an HD shipper through and through, I also loved loved LOVED Harry/Luna. My very most favourite H/L fics ever: Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast and The Wonky Dating Lexicon. Read them, enjoy them, love them! (and if you have HP recs to share GIMME ALL OF THEM!)

[livejournal.com profile] laria_gwyn has been reccing me stuff to read at work like a fairy reccing godmother and every single one of them has been a joy ♥ This week the award for Most Brilliant Rec goes to Under the Table and Dreaming (ToyStory, Andy/Sid) and its sequel To the Dogs or Whoever.

'Sup, flist? ♥

Ugh, I read the first book in translation and didn't like it much because it sounded like the translator was trying too hard to make it Tolkien-like, so I checked out the second book in English... It was a tragedy D: My mum, on the other hand, is completely enamoured with the thing :\ I much prefer the Temeraire series, as far as dragons go :)

Ohh, I think you'd love the Kushiel series! You should check it out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kushiel%27s_Dart#The_World_of_Terre_D.27Ange) :D

*cheers you on* I have faith in your reading prowess! You can totally read all of them!

Yes yes yes! I was rooting for that ship too!

There's no gibberish in your comment, only awesome!

Yeah...hah, that series...I just regard it as badfic. pretty much. think the author even admitted that it was like him mixing star wars with LOTR. Which...even if he had written it better, I probably still wouldn't have liked then. I always found the LOTR series to be too dry. well, at least I did when I was nine and I never got over that impression.

I might. Ugh, it feels like forever since I've read a real book not for school. It's probably actually only been a month because I think that's when I was finishing the Books of Bayern series. Reasonably sure my pile of books to read is as obnoxious as my fic queue. whyyy can't I just read all the time?

ha, I've already saved almost 80 fics, and I definitely don't save everything I read...I think I'm about 2/3rds of the way through bea_recs list of recs. proving that even though I can't read all the time, I try to anyway.

I think they would have been really sweet together.

I am pulling my hair out over this game right now.

Pretentious badfic! I mean, the original version was good for improving my vocabulary, but it was a bore to read :\ I read LOTR for the first time when I was 16 and I quite enjoyed it, though I admit some parts are very, very hard to go through.

I know exactly how you feel! I like learning stuff, but I miss picking up a book just because :(

Oh my! You are an X-woman and your power is Reading Like a Boss :O

Yeah, I tried to read the Hobbit for over four years. Finally just donated it. Then I tried to read the Two Towers, figuring that I'd be better at it since I'd seen the movie, but no. never could keep the characters apart. And then I think I just got annoyed by the lack of female characters for the majority of the time. And a new Tamora Pierce book came out, so I was suitably distracted anyway.

I love learning so much, but I really don't like school. blergh. hoping once I get past all the core bullshit (can you add? well, we're going to make you take a class to prove it anyway, who cares that most this shit is the smae shit you took in high school and you knew it then.) My sister told me I should just be a baker instead. Which, I'm not sure where she got that from, but I made some really cute cupcakes on friday, so.

Haha, yes! Nah, I just speed read like a demon. Think I've been reading in the fandom for a few weeks though.

I was such a huge x-men fan when I was little. My dad and I would watch spiderman together, and then the x-men cartoons would come on and I would keep watching them. I bought a couple of the comics yesterday, already had the movie trilogy and a season of the Evolution cartoons on dvd, and now netflix has kindly decided to have all the cartoons ever. I've finally moved past trying to move objects with my mind, though. mostly. >.> what? Jean Grey could do it. My middle name is Jean. close enough!

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Tbh, the Hobbit didn't do much for me :/ I tried Silmarillion after that and I kept mixing up the characters because their names looked the same. The only other Tolkien book I really enjoyed was Tree and Leaf... because it was about a painter and his neverending piece of art.

Ugh. I know. There are a couple of courses that I have to take that are all about things I've done repeatedly both in middle school and in high school and they are such a waste of time I could be spending studying other stuff :(

Hee, the universe is conspiring to get you back into the thick of the fandom, then :D I was more into disney and anime back then, but I do have all the Spiderman comics from the 70's :)

Ha, doesn't have to try that hard. I once bought nail polish for the sheer fact that when I wore it, it looked like yuriko's fingernail claw things in the second movie. I think i was 8 when x-men evolution started. I mean, I was also totally absored in pokemon and digimon and whatever else i could fin on a saturday morning, but we didn't get more than like 5 tv channels until i was ten. and then sailor moon happened. and then I moved again and was more fomrally introduced to anime. which is where most my money went for the next three years...

I just want to take psych course and maybe some computer science stuff. but I can't get into most the psych courses I need until I'm at junior standing, pretty much. which sucks. but I'm almost there thanks to all the college level course i took in high school.

most my knowledge of tolkien is of those two books and the movies. so I know very little about the universe. which is kind of sad since it still sounds like something i would like and yet it never works.

ugh, i want to do fannish things!! i just still feel creatively dead. and kind of wordless. it is distressing.

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, I used to get my mum to cut my hair to look like the characters in whatever anime I was obsessed at the time :D Yeah, anime/manga were the main reason my piggybank was always almost empty :\ But god, so worth it!

I'm not really savvy on how the American college system works... do you need to reach a certain amount of credits to access certain courses? We have propaedeutic courses, but credits are not taken into consideration when you apply for them.

I want to do all the fannish things too! My muse is pretty active lately, but I have to keep a strict study schedule because I have to sit tons of exams in September /o\ Why are there only 24 hours in a day?

My mom was anned from touching my hair, unless it was to do this cool little thing with ruber bands that looked like a net and she called it my princess crown, but when it got loose enough, i could flip it over so the two little tails it ended in would stick off my forehead like horns and i would chase people around growling.

Oh, certain course have requirements of other courses before you take them, but it's mainly that we register for classes based off our class standing. And eache psych class holds 40 students. Only about four courses are offered each term. there are over 600 students who have declared psych as a major. so there just isn't space if you don't get to register early on.

Yeeeeeeeees. If there were, like, 30 hours, then maybe I would be okay. I just want to make all the graphics and write all the fic and sew all the buttons back onto my coats and clean my house good and read all the things. So, either 30 hours in a day, or this plastic time turner my sister got me had better develop magic powers soon.

haha, I should just tell you that, right after I posted that, there was a goal and so much screaming in my house that the dog freaked out hardcore.
because in my family, soccer is a religion. yup.

Ahahahahahhaahah! We are like that over MotoGP racing :D We scream and curse and jump on the sofa :D

My dad's been making facebook posts of what he thinks the coach should do in terms of the line up for each game. it's kind of adorable. See, my sisters all played soccer, my parents coached and refereed, I played. yeah. Soccer's pretty much been my whole life, but every one finally stopped being so involved in it that we can enjoy watching it together.

Screaming and jumping is fun! :D it's just dangerous for my computer

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, so it's a family tradition :D That's nice!

Screaming and jumping! That's how you know you love something ;)
