HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] toodelicious!

May it be full of cake and hugs and people who love you!

Before I forget... thank you bunches for the kisses! :D I've been away at work and then busy with uni stuff and I completely failed at being a decent flister (who is surprised? /o\) I'll try to make it up to you with a couple of random doodles
Sorry for the low quality. My dad has been using the scanner at all hours, I had to resort to camera pics :\

Um. So I was bored at work and I kept thinking about this Kushiel!AU and so this came out. One day I'll grow a pair and draw it properly... omg! Nakedness! What have I done?!

I have been messing around with cardboard again! Did I ever tell you about my love/hate relationship with Cardboard? I love it, but working on it is a pain. But I love the texture. I believe I once bored Nic to tears talking about how I love/hate working on cardboard...

If you follow me on twitter you've already seen this. Also, I'll come out and just say it: Mark is a joy to draw. If I could, I'd draw doodles of his unimpressed face and sheepdog curls all over the places.

Day #37894889292 of me being in love with steampunk failboats. Carry on.

and some recs! :D?

This WWF video is gorgeous! Everybody should watch it!

Deathly Hallow is almost here! My sister and I have been flapping our hands at each other for a week solid and we keep looking at each other and getting choked up. Our childhood ç___ç
Anyway, Tumblr is bursting with HP graphics and I stumbled upon this one and it made me remember that while I was an HD shipper through and through, I also loved loved LOVED Harry/Luna. My very most favourite H/L fics ever: Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast and The Wonky Dating Lexicon. Read them, enjoy them, love them! (and if you have HP recs to share GIMME ALL OF THEM!)

[livejournal.com profile] laria_gwyn has been reccing me stuff to read at work like a fairy reccing godmother and every single one of them has been a joy ♥ This week the award for Most Brilliant Rec goes to Under the Table and Dreaming (ToyStory, Andy/Sid) and its sequel To the Dogs or Whoever.

'Sup, flist? ♥

My sister just called to sort out dinner plans for Thursday night and I almost lost it on the phone! ;_____;

THE STEAMPUNK ART IS SO MUCH WIN <3

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister and I are going on Wednesday afternoon. Everytime I think about it I tear up ;_____;

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, thank you bb ♥ So is your icon, btw *___*

[identity profile] lemniciate.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
omg ALL THE ART. SO ADORABLE.

I've got that Toy Story fic open in a tab! I've never even considered reading fic for TS... :O

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, darling :D

Ah, neither had I! But everyone on my twitter feed was talking about some TS fic and so I asked Laria about it and she sent me the link. It is amazing! For me, it feels a bit like reading Calvin&Hobbes future!fic :) Delicious!

[identity profile] aproposnothing.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, cardboard. Like you said, the texture is fantastic. The pressing-too-hard-and-poking-holes-in-your-work-surface is not :/

I'm not sure who Mark is but I lol-ed so very hard at his adorable, tangible irritation XD

Steampunkkkkkkk. I am absolutely fascinated by Steampunk subculture. FASCINATED.

I am so torn about the Harry Potter movie coming out next week for, you see, it comes out on my sister's 18th birthday and, though I did think about it, I simply cannot ditch her on the one day of the year that is (in our family) irrevocably hers. And she kinda-sorta maybe hates Harry Potter ... just a little bit. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT EITHER, OKAY?! ... T^T

I EXPECT LOTS OF SQUEE FROM YOU TO TIE ME OVER UNTIL I CAN SEE IT ON THE 16TH.

Ummm I just realized my H/D bookmarks are kind of lacking but if you haven't read Obsession by [livejournal.com profile] jitter_bug yet then I think you should. Draco is a bit more fandom than I usually like him but it's still a very good read. Very hot. Very funny. Lots of sexual tension ;D

:D

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god I hate when that happens >:| The worst thing, though, is when you try to use watercolour pencils on it. Cardboard, why must you absorb all the water?

Ahaha, it's Mark Zuckerberg from TSN. I am now in ten thousand fandoms I have no time for *bangs head on desk*

Isn't it awesome? I am completely smitten with it! :D I wish every fandom had a Steampunk!AU and that it wasn't such a subculture! There needs to be more steampunk around!

DDD: Oh my! Why does she hate it? I guess her birthday is more important than HP and it's not like it will have a short run in the theatre, you can catch it later :)
OMG THERE WILL BE SO MUCH SQUEE! SO MUCH! Though, I think there will be a lot of desperate wailing too and I'll probably put up a post for PostDH support (so we can all cling to each other and cry bitter tears of despair over our childhood fictional friends' adventure coming to an end *sobs and sobs and sobs*).

Ahh, Obsession :D *rereads* I feel like someone should organize some sort of HP Festival where people can go and be "remember this fic..." and "Remember that meta..." and "Remember that fanart..."

My dad (who avoids movie theaters like the plague) is actually planning to see this. like, the night it comes out. what even? I think he's gone to...three movies in the theater during my lifetime. two of them have been harry potter. even though he so doesn't get it. He read the whole book series over a summer of business trips, he had to borrow my copy of the seventh book and read it at home. then he immediately came into my room and went: 'wait, I don't understand. What just happened?" because the explanation of magic isn't enough for him. Also, he was sure that Harry and Hermione were going to end up together.

um, right. sorry about the dad/harry potter rambling. What I intended to say was: OMG, FAILBOAT STEAMPUNKS IN LOVE!! And your mark doodle is still so amazing. I approve any plans of random mark doodles forever. And I haven't read the thing about the other one, but it's still pretty. so. yes.

...you are the second person on my flist talking about this toy story fic.... why is there a conspiracy to make me read it?

HARRY/LUNA!!! I support that pairing fully. Would have made so much more sense to me than what actually happened. also, luna is one of my favorite characters if not my actual favorite character. I adored Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast. ahven't read the other one I don't think. Um...recs... my whole harry/luna stash is this:
Someday you'll get your happy ending
anniversary
handmates for certain
Let the Sun Inside
Three Interviews

and then for a H/D one that had lead to many ridiculous jokes in my circle of friends because they all read it: Freudian Slip

YAAAAAAAY! You posted Kushiel!AU Wardo! :DDD So proud of you, bb! <333

I still love your Mark on the cardboard (I had no idea cardboard had the potential for love/hate :D) and OMG, steampunk failboats! And the birthday doodle! *_______________*

ALL THE HEARTS FOR YOU!!! ♥

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahah, my mum did the same thing! Except she read the books as they came out, but still once she finished each one she'd come to us asking for explanations because "it doesn't make sense!". Also, she never read DH because by the time that one came out she was obsessed with Eragon :|

Mark doodles forever and everrrr \o/ I actually want to figure out how to draw Dustin and Chris so we can have FB fab 4 cuddlepile :) You have to read that one! It's Kushiel!AU! How can you not?!

OMG GO READ IT NOW IT'S THE BEST FIC EVERRRR! I was totally skeptical at first because like, Toy Story fic? What even? But I gave it a chance and three sencences in I was hooked! To me, it feel a bit like reading Calvin&Hobbes future fic, except it's different because the TS movies were about the toys and here you get to see what happens to Andy. It's truly brilliant.

Adfghjklkjkhgfdfshfjhgkhl recs *_______* Harry/Luna made so much more sense than any other pairing, really (except for H/D :P) I was so disappointed that he ended up with Ginny :\ Not that Ginny isn't awesome, she totally is, but I always thought she and Harry didn't suit each other much.
OMG JENNAVERE'S MY QUEEN! I USED TO READ HER STORIES OVER AND OVER AGAIN! She's also the first person I've ever drawn fanart for :)

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Shhhhhhhhh! It's a secret! I didn't link it to anyone! I am a lily-livered bunny!

*twirls you* Cardboard is like that boy/girl in your class you have a giant crush on but who is also an asshole of epic proportions.

NO, ALL FOR YOU! <33333333333

[identity profile] chaoticallyclev.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
blergh, eragon. My parents bought me the first of the books under the misguided assumption that I would like them just because dragons. which, okay, isn't a terrible assumption, but they are generally really off in their thinking of what I will like.

CUDDLES! CUDDLES FOR EVERYONE. \o/

haha, because "kushiel" means...absolutely nothing to me.

I might! eventually! *looks at the eight fic tabs I have open, the massive rec list, the word doc of ones to watch that I am to laxy to track* um...yes, eventually. IT IS NOT MY FAULT X-MEN HAS SO MUCH NEW FIC. of course, it is my fault that I am determined to read approximately all of it. sigh. I always do this to myself.

ha, yes, I was a h/d shipper as well, but in terms of what i thought was likely to happen in the books. Because the whole childhood crush angle always kind of freaked me out. I do remember thinking that her and neville were kind of adorable. and that's actually made more entertaining to me based off the angle of he was almost the chosen one.

...my family is watching our recording of the Brazil/U.S. women's match, so I am distracted. in case this reads like gibberish, now you know why.

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, I read the first book in translation and didn't like it much because it sounded like the translator was trying too hard to make it Tolkien-like, so I checked out the second book in English... It was a tragedy D: My mum, on the other hand, is completely enamoured with the thing :\ I much prefer the Temeraire series, as far as dragons go :)

Ohh, I think you'd love the Kushiel series! You should check it out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kushiel%27s_Dart#The_World_of_Terre_D.27Ange) :D

*cheers you on* I have faith in your reading prowess! You can totally read all of them!

Yes yes yes! I was rooting for that ship too!

There's no gibberish in your comment, only awesome!
ext_88181: (cardboard mind control wishes)

[identity profile] chaoticallyclev.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...hah, that series...I just regard it as badfic. pretty much. think the author even admitted that it was like him mixing star wars with LOTR. Which...even if he had written it better, I probably still wouldn't have liked then. I always found the LOTR series to be too dry. well, at least I did when I was nine and I never got over that impression.

I might. Ugh, it feels like forever since I've read a real book not for school. It's probably actually only been a month because I think that's when I was finishing the Books of Bayern series. Reasonably sure my pile of books to read is as obnoxious as my fic queue. whyyy can't I just read all the time?

ha, I've already saved almost 80 fics, and I definitely don't save everything I read...I think I'm about 2/3rds of the way through bea_recs list of recs. proving that even though I can't read all the time, I try to anyway.

I think they would have been really sweet together.

I am pulling my hair out over this game right now.

haha, I should just tell you that, right after I posted that, there was a goal and so much screaming in my house that the dog freaked out hardcore.
because in my family, soccer is a religion. yup.

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretentious badfic! I mean, the original version was good for improving my vocabulary, but it was a bore to read :\ I read LOTR for the first time when I was 16 and I quite enjoyed it, though I admit some parts are very, very hard to go through.

I know exactly how you feel! I like learning stuff, but I miss picking up a book just because :(

Oh my! You are an X-woman and your power is Reading Like a Boss :O

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahhaahah! We are like that over MotoGP racing :D We scream and curse and jump on the sofa :D

Yeah, I tried to read the Hobbit for over four years. Finally just donated it. Then I tried to read the Two Towers, figuring that I'd be better at it since I'd seen the movie, but no. never could keep the characters apart. And then I think I just got annoyed by the lack of female characters for the majority of the time. And a new Tamora Pierce book came out, so I was suitably distracted anyway.

I love learning so much, but I really don't like school. blergh. hoping once I get past all the core bullshit (can you add? well, we're going to make you take a class to prove it anyway, who cares that most this shit is the smae shit you took in high school and you knew it then.) My sister told me I should just be a baker instead. Which, I'm not sure where she got that from, but I made some really cute cupcakes on friday, so.

Haha, yes! Nah, I just speed read like a demon. Think I've been reading in the fandom for a few weeks though.

I was such a huge x-men fan when I was little. My dad and I would watch spiderman together, and then the x-men cartoons would come on and I would keep watching them. I bought a couple of the comics yesterday, already had the movie trilogy and a season of the Evolution cartoons on dvd, and now netflix has kindly decided to have all the cartoons ever. I've finally moved past trying to move objects with my mind, though. mostly. >.> what? Jean Grey could do it. My middle name is Jean. close enough!

My dad's been making facebook posts of what he thinks the coach should do in terms of the line up for each game. it's kind of adorable. See, my sisters all played soccer, my parents coached and refereed, I played. yeah. Soccer's pretty much been my whole life, but every one finally stopped being so involved in it that we can enjoy watching it together.

Screaming and jumping is fun! :D it's just dangerous for my computer

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Tbh, the Hobbit didn't do much for me :/ I tried Silmarillion after that and I kept mixing up the characters because their names looked the same. The only other Tolkien book I really enjoyed was Tree and Leaf... because it was about a painter and his neverending piece of art.

Ugh. I know. There are a couple of courses that I have to take that are all about things I've done repeatedly both in middle school and in high school and they are such a waste of time I could be spending studying other stuff :(

Hee, the universe is conspiring to get you back into the thick of the fandom, then :D I was more into disney and anime back then, but I do have all the Spiderman comics from the 70's :)

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, so it's a family tradition :D That's nice!

Screaming and jumping! That's how you know you love something ;)

Ha, doesn't have to try that hard. I once bought nail polish for the sheer fact that when I wore it, it looked like yuriko's fingernail claw things in the second movie. I think i was 8 when x-men evolution started. I mean, I was also totally absored in pokemon and digimon and whatever else i could fin on a saturday morning, but we didn't get more than like 5 tv channels until i was ten. and then sailor moon happened. and then I moved again and was more fomrally introduced to anime. which is where most my money went for the next three years...

I just want to take psych course and maybe some computer science stuff. but I can't get into most the psych courses I need until I'm at junior standing, pretty much. which sucks. but I'm almost there thanks to all the college level course i took in high school.

most my knowledge of tolkien is of those two books and the movies. so I know very little about the universe. which is kind of sad since it still sounds like something i would like and yet it never works.

ugh, i want to do fannish things!! i just still feel creatively dead. and kind of wordless. it is distressing.

[identity profile] elefante-locura.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Seeing your drawings makes me smile. ADORABLE FACTOR x a gazillion. =D Even when I am not familiar with the fandom. =D

GAH I love Mark chewing on his hoodie string. =D Unimpressed face = HAHA. Brilliant. Sheepdog curls? Bahaha. =D

*gasp* Deathly Hallow! I'm going to watch that in Gold Class with my friend next week, I'm so excited!!! =D OhmyGOSH, I *love* Harry/Luna!! They're my second favourite ship, after Draco/Hermione. I shall check out the recs! I adores you. Haha.

On a side note, you can totally share those drawings on LJ! :D I'm more than happy with that; TSN-love to share all around! =D

Wassup? :D How you doin'? :D

[identity profile] aproposnothing.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I absolutely love my set of watercolor pencils *-* ... but I've never used them on cardboard. Is it definitely more trouble than it's worth?

Ohhh. I love the curly hair. It's very realistic and yet artistic at the same time :D ... May I join this club of head-banging-upon-desks-in-frustration? Because I know exactly how you feel. I'm currently active in five fandoms and I'm about to die. I don't know how I'm going to keep this up when I go back to school D:

Ahhh I want all the Steampunk!AUs in the world. All of them. The same applies to kid!fic and anything containing massive amounts of sexual tension ♥_♥ ... Has there been a Steampunk!AU in Inception fandom yet? Somebody really needs to get on that. *ponders*

I dunno but she kind of scoffs at me every time I mention it. It makes me cry. On the inside. Like a massive crying thing D: But you are right! It's probably going to be in theaters for weeks and weeks and I will definitely catch it at some point.

............Oh gosh. You're right. This is the end of the line. People die in mass quantities in this film. Harry marries Ginny instead of Draco or Hermione or Luna (thanks for the reccs btw. I has a new ship, yes I do) in this film... and the adventure comes to a necessary end *clings to you* "Depression hurts. Cymbalta can help."

I re-read Obsession on the regular :DDD (because I ship Harry/Draco like FedEx) but I would definitely love to be a part of that HP Festival. Like I said, my Harry Potter bookmarks are lacking. I've never even thought of Harry and Luna as a couple before but ... it works! Actually, it more than works, it's downright plausible. Oh dear. I see another sleepless night hovering on the horizon :D/D:
