What the hell was I thinking?

of_silverandsky's fault. She asked to discuss this picture of Brendon and this came out. Also, unbetaed.
Brendon has been abandoned.
He and Zack and Spencer were strolling in New York, not even checking out the stores, just aimlessly wandering around. Spencer and Zack were walking ahead of him and Brendon was thinking about snapping a picture to send to twitpic. He glanced down to take his phone out of his jeans pocket and noticed one of his shoelaces had slipped out of its shoe. Brendon was a klutz as it was. Leaving laces like that was practically asking to fall flat on his face.
He huffed out a "Hold on" to Zack and crouched down to stick the shoelace back into the sides of his shoe.
Spencer had been telling him to just tie his shoes like a normal person since forever, but Brendon didn't like for the strings to bounce around when he walked (also, when he was younger, the other kids always teased him about his "bunny ears" tying method and he had taken up the habit of just sticking them inside his shoes before slipping them on). The only problem was that sometimes the laces slipped out and he had to take off his shoe to put them back in their place.
Brendon slipped his heel out of the shoe, flipped the ends of the strings back inside and slid his foot forward to put the shoe back on. The whole thing couldn't have taken more than a minute, but when he had stood up again, Zack and Spencer were nowhere to be seen.
Brendon blinked. "What the hell?" he said to no one. He turned his head from side to side, looking for Zack's bulky frame or Spencer's shiny hair, but the only thing he could see was the moving crowd around him, walking purposefully and ignoring him completely.
Brendon's not one to panic easily (ahah) but finding himself suddenly alone in the middle of New York City... well.
He took out his phone and scrolled the names on his contact list until he found Zack's and pressed "call", worrying his bottom lip. It rang four times before going to voicemail. Brendon tried Spencer's right after with the same result.
He stared at his phone in confusion and then launched his Twitter app. As he waited for the page to load, thinking about a clever way to ask Zack and Spencer why they thought abandoning him in front of the Apple store was a good idea (without alerting a horde of fangirls of his whereabouts), he scanned the crowd again. When he looked back at the screen, he saw Zack's tweet:
@zackdft The ONLY good thing about NYC. http://twitpic.com/djjh1"
Brendon touched the link and stared, surprised, at a picture of himself, standing in front of the Apple store, looking for his friends. "What the..."
"You should have seen your face, Urie." Brendon looked up as he heard Zack's laughing voice over the traffic noise "That's the only good thing about New York". Him and Spencer were on the other side of the road grinning like loons, Zack still clutching his phone.
Brendon put a hand on his hip and scowled, "You guys are assholes. What if I had been attacked by a horde of fangirls?"
"Less people for me to corral around" answered Zack, already crossing the street, Spencer at his side.
"You'd be completely devastated" Brendon replied, "you would cry".
"Yes," Zack said once he stepped onto the sidewalk, "tears of joy." He slapped Brendon's back and then started walking again, flicking his head to tell the other two to follow him.
"So," Spencer said, drawing out the vowel, "will you start to tie your shoes right, now?"
Brendon looked at him out of the corner of his eye "No, I won't."
Spencer bumped his shoulder against Brendon's "You know, if it's about the 'bunny ears'... I could teach you the other method".
Brendon snorted to cover his reddening cheeks "What, we are going to sit down and you're going to tie my strings?"
Spencer smiled wickedly, "Strings are not the only things you can tie, you know."
Brendon stumbled, his shoelaces still in their place.

Anyway, those people are wrong and I bet they take forever to get their shoes tied because of how wrong they are :)

Oh, of course they are! Their bows are all lopsided and have no personality *mphf*
