HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] toodelicious!

May it be full of cake and hugs and people who love you!

Before I forget... thank you bunches for the kisses! :D I've been away at work and then busy with uni stuff and I completely failed at being a decent flister (who is surprised? /o\) I'll try to make it up to you with a couple of random doodles
Sorry for the low quality. My dad has been using the scanner at all hours, I had to resort to camera pics :\

Um. So I was bored at work and I kept thinking about this Kushiel!AU and so this came out. One day I'll grow a pair and draw it properly... omg! Nakedness! What have I done?!

I have been messing around with cardboard again! Did I ever tell you about my love/hate relationship with Cardboard? I love it, but working on it is a pain. But I love the texture. I believe I once bored Nic to tears talking about how I love/hate working on cardboard...

If you follow me on twitter you've already seen this. Also, I'll come out and just say it: Mark is a joy to draw. If I could, I'd draw doodles of his unimpressed face and sheepdog curls all over the places.

Day #37894889292 of me being in love with steampunk failboats. Carry on.

and some recs! :D?

This WWF video is gorgeous! Everybody should watch it!

Deathly Hallow is almost here! My sister and I have been flapping our hands at each other for a week solid and we keep looking at each other and getting choked up. Our childhood ç___ç
Anyway, Tumblr is bursting with HP graphics and I stumbled upon this one and it made me remember that while I was an HD shipper through and through, I also loved loved LOVED Harry/Luna. My very most favourite H/L fics ever: Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast and The Wonky Dating Lexicon. Read them, enjoy them, love them! (and if you have HP recs to share GIMME ALL OF THEM!)

[livejournal.com profile] laria_gwyn has been reccing me stuff to read at work like a fairy reccing godmother and every single one of them has been a joy ♥ This week the award for Most Brilliant Rec goes to Under the Table and Dreaming (ToyStory, Andy/Sid) and its sequel To the Dogs or Whoever.

'Sup, flist? ♥

I love mine too <3 Not really, but you have to be very careful. The brush must be barely damp and the cardboard really sturdy. I also find white cardboard tends to bump up the colour saturation too much so I prefer brown cardboard :)

Hee, thank you :D Of course you can join! Please, sign here __________ . There are too many awesome things I want to pay attention to <333 How am I supposed to pick RL drama over all these shiny things?

Hnngghh! Kid!fic *___* I love kid!fic like burning! Yes yes! There are! [livejournal.com profile] jibrailis wrote a steampunk AU (http://jibrailis.livejournal.com/56651.html#cutid4) and then there's The Source of All Things (http://pen-pistola.livejournal.com/15506.html) by [livejournal.com profile] pen_pistola, which is a Steampunk/UrbanFantasy AU :)

*clings back* There will be so much heartbreak all around the world, omg ç____ç

H/D was my very first big OTP <333 But I always thought that canon wise, Luna would have been a much better choice for Harry! They just suit each other on so many levels and they make more sense that Harry/Ginny. :D

What brand do you use? I've kind of got a hodge podge set right now but I'm thinking of investing in an actual 24 piece set. Your thoughts? As for your suggestions about brown and white cardboard, they have been duly noted and will be used in short order the moment I get back to school. I think my mom would have a heart-attack if she found me sprawled on her floor and painting on cardboard like my six-year-old sister :)

No problem :D

I [livejournal.com profile] aproposnothing,
Being of sound mind and body, do declare my intent to join the H.B.U.D.I.F. (Head Banging Upon Desks In Frustration) Club on this, the eleventh day of July, year two-thousand and eleven. While a member of this club, I swear to honor the Main Procrastination Principle, as decreed by the honorable [livejournal.com profile] aredblush, by regularly choosing shiny things over real life drama and using cardboard as a regular medium for both pen and paint related artwork.

Kid!fic will always hold a special place in my heart but ahhhhh steampunk au's!!!! Thank you for the recs! I'm so bad at finding good fic, so very bad, and I've got so many to read just from this post of yours alone. I feel like it's necessary to send you thank you cookies or something XD

That blubbering idiot you'll hear sobbing in the theatre near the end? Yeah, be nice to them because I'm bound to do the same thing at my local cinema T.T

Mine too ♥ ... And I'm definitely beginning to agree with you in regards to the Harry and Luna suiting each other more than Harry and Ginny. I know she's Ron's sister and all but I didn't like her much to begin with anyway >.>

I have a Caran d'Ache 30 piece set that I keep restocking. I tried Koh-I-Noor crayons a while back, but they are a bit too buttery soft for my hand (the hues are fantastic, though. I should just teach my hand to be less heavy /o\). I like having sets because that way I can cover all bases and if I need a particular shade I can buy it apart :) Ahahah, my family has long since resigned to my art and craft way. My mum now asks me if I want to keep whatever she's going to chuck into the recycling bin..

Welcome to our esteemed club. Here is your membership card

Hee, no cookies required! :D I just like to spread the love and have more people to flail with :) I'm not exactly a good fic hunter either, but my flist is full of people who are. I just boost the signal ;)

Ahahha, I'm pretty sure my sister and I will sob from start to finish. We'll have to go see it multiple times because we'll surely lose half the movie to the sheen of tears streaming down our faces ç__ç

I always thought the parallels with Lily (spunky redhead with an attitude) were sort of off-putting, and the whole celebrity crush she had going on from the very beginning was sort of creepy. I would have actually enjoyed seeing her become a confidant to Harry because I can buy them being close friends.

[identity profile] aproposnothing.livejournal.com 2011-07-13 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard absolutely wonderful things about Caran d'Ache Supracolors. I've always been a fan of Faber Castell, if only because that's what I've used and favored since the beginning, but I need a legit set badly so I'll look into them. Aww, your mom sounds sweet.

Loool the first time I used a Koh-I-Noor I thought I would break it in half. I like that there is so much color at my disposal but you're right, being heavy handed and trying to use the crayons never ends well. That's a lesson I learned way back in elementary school XD

ROTFL that membership card is epic and has been saved to my desktop :D

Well, continue to spread the love and boost the signal then! I'm always happy to flail around at shiny things. If you change your mind about the cookies though, just let me know :)

Oh, God. I'm almost terrified to go and see it in theaters now. I've managed to draft a few of my friends into going with me, and I have a really good friend that'll probably let me cry on her, so at least we won't be alone in our sadness T^T ... How much of an age difference is there between you and your sister? Because mine is two and a half years younger than me and, like I said, she isn't much of a fan. Want to trade?

Were you sitting in the bushes outside watching when I typed my last message? Because I'm pretty sure you read my mind so far as Ginny is concerned. I disagree with ever having wanted to see her become a confidant to Harry, just because her character left a lot to be desired (at least for me), but I agree with everything else in your second to last sentence. I also think Hermione and Ron ending up together was a big fail on J.K. Rowling's part but, again, perhaps that's just me XD

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2011-07-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah! SO late to reply! I apologize :(

Faber Castle is also really good. It didn't use to be, but lately they've been improving their quality a great deal :) and at least they don't threaten to crumble to pieces like KIN!

:D Happy you find our modest card of your liking *beams*

Ahh, so I went and watched it and thank god my sister was there because we both ended up soaked in tears ç____ç and we'd been so miserable without each other's hand to cling to during the movie. I am 3 years and 8 months older than my sister and I'm sorry, but I wouldn't trade her for the world *clings to sister* she gets me so well :)

Mwahahah, watch your back >:D But no, really, I like Ginny fairly well, she's pretty kickass and I like how her characterization developed in the books. I just don't agree with the "matching her with Harry" part.
I'm pretty indifferent to Hr/R (was the name mashing Herron? My memory fails me...); I enjoyed the development of their relationship greatly, but if they had ended up as just friends, I would have been happy anyway :)

[identity profile] aproposnothing.livejournal.com 2011-07-15 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
I am terrible about replying to comments and PM's in a timely fashion. It's all good :)

Lol very true but if I'm going to make a switch then now would be the time to do so.

I love it. I want to print a copy and stick it in my wallet so that when I'm angsting over homework I can take it out and laugh my head off :)

I literally read this message the moment I was walking out the door to go and see it at the local drive-in movie theatre. I didn't cry throughout the whole thing the way I thought I was going to but I did shed a tear or five-hundred T.T Lol, if I'd gone through with the trade my mom might have noticed anyway >.>

Rotfl. Next time you're lurking just knock on the window. I'll bake cookies and you can pick my brain for plot bunnies in between my soliciting your opinions on different art supplies and novels :D

I'm going to re-read the entire series at some point over the next few months, perhaps during winter break, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for Ginny being kick-ass. I think the parallels drawn between her and Lily detracted from any development she made as a character throughout the series and, while I don't dislike her, I think J.K. Rowling went "Hmm, Harry needs a girlfriend and ... oh yeah, Ginny!" and that just doesn't do it for me.

As for Hr/R (And since I never shipped either of them with ANYONE I have no idea what their name mash was XD) I think my biggest problem with the pairing off of Hermione and Ron throughout the novels was the dichotomy between some of their specific character traits. Hermione was the brain. Harry was the brawn. Ron, for me, was a bit of a third wheel. Regardless of the fact that his character was redeemed in the last novel, he was basically useless for a huge part of the series and, because of that, I had to suspend my disbelief to see his relationship with Hermione as anything other than J.K. Rowling trying to tie up yet another loose end and provide a happy, "normal" ending for her readers.

Basically? I was just looking for a tiny bit of realism. In a series about magic.

Yes, I know I'm ridiculous XD

Ahahah, what a good club member you are :D

I managed to more or less hold it for the first half of the movie, but as soon as Professor McGonagall showed up I started crying like a baby ç__ç It was just so intense. I mean, I felt like while I was watching the movie, I was also reliving all the things every character had gone through. Like, every action was a reaction to something that had happened before.

Ahahah, I will!

Oh no, I am completely in agreement on that front. The whole "tying up loose ends" part was pretty upsetting for me because the rest of the arc was actually pretty realistic, fantasy aspects aside. I get that J.K. wanted to prevent anyone from writing sequels or whatever, but that part didn't feel very in line with how she'd handled the story so far :\
