Top 5s

It's time to post the aswer to the "Top 5" meme :D

[livejournal.com profile] angelgazing wanted to know my Top 5 OTPs:
1. Brendon/Spencer (they are such boys!)

2. Kurt/Puck (but I do ship Kurt with Mike as well)

3. Ashlee/Pete (they are so cute, I can't even)

4. Harry/Draco (you can't beat the classics)

5. Arthur/Eames (Yeah, I know I should have waited to see the movie. What can I say? My flesh is young and the spirit is weak.)

[livejournal.com profile] saba1789 wanted to know my Top 5 Brendon/Spencer moments:
1. That time they had a sleepover and shared the sofabed

2. That time Spencer fed Brendon

3. That time they shared a drum kit

4. That time they made the fans happy

5. That time they made it way too easy for us

and my Top 5 people to hug
1. My sister! (you even get a picture of us as tiny babies)

2 and 3. Mum and Dad

4. An old friend from high school who I haven't seen in 5 years.

5. My grandma Clara. She was a champion hugger.

[livejournal.com profile] coreopsis wanted to know my Top 5 most difficult people to draw:
1. Gerard Way. His features are so peculiar, it's really hard for me to pick his face apart... It's a real shame because I really like the visual theme of BP, but since I was unable to draw Gee well, I never got to play in that particular sandbox.

2. William Becket. I tried to draw him once, but I never found the right balance between elfin and dorky. He either looked like an extra from LOTR, or way too similar to the tenth Doctor.

3. Brendon Urie. I love drawing him, but getting his face to look right is an excercise in patience. I think my problem with him as a subject is that I learned to draw him in a certain way and never straied from that first model, rarely modifying the features to match the changing ones in the rl subject. That's something that bothers me a lot because sometimes, I start drawing Brendon and end up with something that practically looks like an OC.

4. Arthur Pendragon. I'd love so effing much to draw him right just once, but I never manage to get the curve of his nose right. Noses are hard to draw anyway, but his especially so! It's not straight, and it's not aquiline, but there is a barely-there arch that makes his face structure so very balanced... and I NEVER GET IT >:(

5. Any Disney character. People always say that Disney characters are so easy to draw, BUT IT'S A LIE! There are so many styles to take into account and the basic undercurrent theme of curved-lines-that-never-curve-like-you-expect-them-to. I adore drawing Disney characters like nothing else, but getting them to look like themselves is not easy and most of the time, I find that drawing them in "my style" is even harder.

and my Top 5 most fun people to draw
1. Spencer Smith! He is fun to draw because he has a very lean frame and I enjoy making his body follow a sinuous line. I also love drawing his forearms! And his hair!

2. Greta Salpeter. I don't draw her much, but when I do it's always a joy, mostly because I really like drawing curly hair and hers is so pretty! I also enjoy dressing her in cute skirts and boots

3. Kurt Hummel. Again with the hair (it's pretty much a theme with me) but also, I love this character attitude which makes him a very fun person to draw. He's the kind of subject that express himself a lot with hand gestures and posture, not to mention his eyebrows. He also gets point for his outfits, which are a true joy when it comes to drawing patterns and textures :D

4. Cain Hargreaves from Kaori Yuki's Count Cain/God Child. I love Yuki's style like burning and this character is just plainly amazing. Back when I was young and naive, I used to download scans of her tables and then try to copy them. She wrote lots of mangas, but I think God Child was the best series she produced and the complexity of the drawings she did for it astound me. I still hope to one day be even a tenth as good as her /fangirling. The reason I like to draw Cain is that he dresses smartly, with lots of layers and props and that is always a plus! He also has nice hair ;)

5. People from RL. I like to draw my friends so much! It's fun because I know them well enough to sketch them without the aid of a reference picture, plus it's always fun to pick a mannerism and then make it the focal point of the drawing. Generally, it makes them happy to receive them, too :)

[livejournal.com profile] squashbee wanted to know my Top 5 favourite foods:
1. Lasagna! It's a typical dish for family reunion Sunday lunch, but we eat it pretty much whenever we like :)

2. Spaghetti alle Vongole (Spaghetti with clams). This one might be my very most favourite pasta dish.

3. Polenta con Salsicce e Spuntature (Polenta with Sausages and Ribs). This one is usually eaten in Winter.

4. Tagliata all'Aceto Balsamico (Tagliata Steak with Balsamic Vinegar). I eat this one very rare. So rare that it practically moos still.

5. Tiramisu. I am going to be crass and say that this can bring your tongue to climax.

Well, that was fun. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask! I'll answer you in the comments, though, because I am lazy :P

Brendon's omnomnom face is one of the best! Spencer should feed him more often where we can see him :D

Hee, thank you! That's one of my favourite picture from my childhood :)

Oh, I totally get it! I think it's the same with Asian food here: we get something with the same name but not the same taste. I am completely besotted with that cow emoticon <333

[identity profile] squashbee.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, he should! *u*

Asian food in non-Asian countries taste really bad, imo. Even if it's from China town. ): And their rice don't stick together because they use Indian rice instead! It makes me so very sad.

Have you ever had your country's food in other countries before? Also, if I may ask, where are you from? :D

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm from Rome! I usually stay away from Italian food when I'm abroad because it's a well known fact that Italian cuisine is easy to mess up. I tried pasta once and then promptly looked for the nearest McDonald's. NEVER AGAIN OMG! I don't know how they could possibly think that was pasta! And I tried pizza in France and they used Kraft cheese instead of mozzarella *cries* it was horrible!

[identity profile] squashbee.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, Roma! I was there 3 and 1/2 years ago for my 10th grade school trip! :D Their mozzarella is amazing (and so is the gelato omg but this is not the post for gelatos). A patriotic pizza-maker there once told me that mozzarella in other countries is not real mozzarella, because those has been frozen before - THE TRUE MOZZARELLA MUST NOT BE FROZEN, BUT KEPT IN COLD WATER FOR STORAGE. That was such an amazing fact that I've never forgotten it after all these years. Kraft cheese ought to be illegal, really. >:(

I am from Taiwan! We can later discuss how pissed I was that PATD went to bloody China instead of Taiwan.

You'd be surprised at how strange pasta can get here in Taiwan. I've seen spaghetti with bell peppers and curry sauce once before... I was like, "What?" So I got the salmon and mushroom spaghetti with white sauce instead. ): Which is still rather strange, but at least it tasted pretty good.

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
*cheers for the patriotic pizza-maker* Our mozzarella is the best, trufax! Gelato is also very good :9

Taiwan! My uncle, who is a flight assistant, has been there a bunch of times and told me it's a really nice place :) I hear you on the PATD going places near you but never actually where you live! They've never been to Italy either! I had to take a plane and go to London to see them >:(

Those spaghetti sounds quite strange, but dad once cooked sauce with peanuts and raisins, so...

[identity profile] squashbee.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They ARE the best! And very bouncy to work with, if I may add. I mean the mozzarella, of course. /random

Ahh, nice to hear from others that Taiwan's a nice place! That is positively strange that they've never gone to Italy - I would've thought that Italy is a more likelier place for them to have a venue instead of China. London must've been an awesome venue (because, EUROPE! <3), lucky you to have gone there to see them, because it must've been loads of fun!

A sweet-tasting pasta... I've never considered!

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, right? I mean, FOB and MCR both did a show in Italy (granted, it was Milan and so still 600 km away from me) but at least they crossed the Alps! London was truly amazing! My uncle used to live there (he's moved to Cambridge now) so my sister and I visited often (and caught a couple of shows) <3

Sweet pasta! There was a time in high school when pasta with Nutella was the main dish of every party :D

[identity profile] squashbee.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Nnrgh, lucky! That is super awesome to have relatives there. FOB and MCR came to Taiwan as well!! :D Along with a lot of other bands, actors, etc. in the past. So there really isn't an excuse for PATD to have not gone to Italy or Taiwan!

REALLY, Nutella? It sounds a lot like Naengmyeon in TW, which is basically cold noodles (no soup!) with julienned cucumbers and a sauce that is basically peanut butter... I swear! Yours is just a warmer version. :D

(Hey, I learned a new word today: julienned!)

[identity profile] aredblush.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so disappointed with the organization of their tours :(

I'll have to try that dish one of these days, it sounds interesting :)

(Hee, I love learning new words! Next year, I'm buying myself one of those dictionary-calendars and learn a new word everyday :D)

[identity profile] squashbee.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I had some Naengmyeon yesterday and it wrote 'sesame' on the package of sauce... My bad. But there's also peanut sprinkles you can add, so I'm not completely off the mark! :X

Ooh! I once (read: back in middle school) resolved to learn new words each day, so when I read books and came across words I didn't know, I'd write it down and search up the meaning of it. It didn't work very well because now I don't remember any of the meanings of the words when I look in the notebook that I wrote it in. LOL
